With fans and audiences returning to live sporting and entertainment events, there is a feeling that normality is slowly returning. This was certainly the case at the PGA Golf Championship on Sunday night. Thousands of golf fans massed around the 18th green at Kiawah Island’s Ocean Course, to see Phil Mickelson become the oldest winner of a Major, a few weeks before his 51st birthday. At a time when professional golf is being dominated by those who hit the ball great distances, how does a 50-year-old win such a prestigious event?
One of the impacts of the lockdown during the pandemic has been the amount of business meetings that can be crammed into a day. The normal time to travel or even walk between meetings has gone – they finish and start on the hour. The time to reflect, digest and create responses is reduced or moved into “after hours”. But there is upside; because of a wider participation by dispersed team members, insights can be gathered quicker than in our previous “normal” environment.
