Three Reasons Why Customers Want a Cloud-based Phone Bundle

For many value-added resellers (VARs) and managed service providers (MSPs) new to the world of cloud computing, it’s difficult deciding which cloud solutions are best for a newly cloud-focused business. You’ve already taken a big step in deciding to move away from on-premise solutions to cloud-based revenue models, but you have to decide which solutions are right for your business. What’s going to be the most profitable for your business? What do your customers WANT you to offer to them?

Many MSPs use Unified Communications-as-a-Service (UCaaS) as their starting point when selling cloud solutions. Why? Every business needs a phone system. Most likely, every business is purchasing some kind of communications solution, and if they’re not purchasing it with you, they’re purchasing it somewhere else.

That leads us to the first reason why it’s a good idea to bundle UCaaS with your other MSP offerings. Being the first MSP to offer the partner cloud-based Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solution, and cloud solutions in general, could set you up to be their contact. You become a trusted cloud provider, and customers will reach out to you whenever they want to expand their IT solutions to a cloud-focused approach. Some customers are more cautious with adding cloud to their IT platform, so it gives them some peace of mind when they have a trusted resource.

Another advantage to bundling UCaaS is that it’s a simple solution for customers. Rather than having to learn how to use complicated technology and hardware, a customer learns the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application and they are up and running. This makes the implementation simpler as there’s a smaller learning curve, which means less downtime for everyone.

Finally, upgrades to UCaaS are also very simple to manage since it’s cloud-based. Customers never have to reach out software or security updates, since software is updated automatically.

Although UCaaS might be more simple and profitable in the long run for an MSP business, there’s a bit of an onboarding process where you may have to lean on your distributor for support.
